Walton Defeats Chenango Forks 12-0
9/27/2009

After playing to an 8-8 tie with Delhi last week, the Warriors JV traveled to Forks on Friday evening, for a battle with the Blue Devils.  Both teams defenses started out very strong, stopping each other on several sets of downs.  QB Dalton Kaminsky then directed a textbook Walton drive for the Orange Crush's first touchdown.  Runs by Mike Beers, Freddy Babcock, Trevor Spencer and Bob Albro pushed the Warrior offense down the field.  Albro scored the first TD on a fullback keep behind the blocking of Joe Sinistore, Kasey Bowker and Tyler Davis.

The extra point pass fell incomplete.  During the second half, the Warriors continued their success running the ball, but were stopped on downs during two drives at the Blue Devil's 9 and 19 yard lines.  The Warriors defensive dominance continued through the third and fourth quarters.  In the fourth, Brandon Gladstone scooped up a Forks fumble and returned it 35 yards for a TD.  The extra point pass was completed to Fred Babcock and he made a nice move and got into the end zone.  An incorrrect call by the referee ruled the extra point no good.  It was determined that there was an inelligible lineman down field, but because the pass happened behind the line of scrimmage, the points should have counted.  The Warriors D stopped Forks again on their next drive.  The Warrior's second offense entered the game with 3:00 to go.  Runs by Jaquays, Shane Hammond and Keenan Hall netted a first down and QB Jimmy Copeland was able to take a knee to run out the clock.  It was a great win for the Warriors and there were many contributors to the victory. The offensive line played very well (Joe Murphy, Josh Hammond, Mel Kerstetter and Brandon Gladstone).  Freshman fullback Mike Beers ran tough all day as did half-back Freddy Babcock.  The following players played well all day on defense:  Mike Hogan, Sinistore, Hammond, Gladstone, Kaminsky, Albro, Danny Jaquays, Spencer, Kerstetter, Babcock, Murphy and Tyler Brizzee.  The Warriors will now travel to their "Home away from home,"  Greene, on next Monday (10/5) night for a 7 pm game vs. the Trojans.  The Trojans are out to a fine start this season and will be a very tough opponent.
